OUR ENVIRONMENT

What we do:

To begin, T & W Block controls and conserves its water usage. When a ready mix concrete truck arrives back at one of our plants from a delivery, it is washed out using water that will be caught along with any remaining concrete. That water is allowed to stand in a wash out pit where any solids settle to the bottom and are recovered. The water is then used again to wash out more trucks. This method conserves both water and materials and prevents any run-off into our creeks and bay. In addition, our company strictly controls the air quality from our plants. All of our plants must comply with concrete dust emissions and wastewater standards.

How you can help:

By using concrete the homeowner and contractor can help preserve the environment as well since it is one of the more environmentally friendly building materials available. Made from all natural products i.e. cement, stone, sand and water, concrete can even use some other reclaimed natural products such as fly ash or bottom ash. By-products of coal combustion, both of these products are easily incorporated into ready mix concrete and concrete blocks.
Concrete is also one of more environmentally friendly building materials, making it perfect for green building projects. From the small impact that concrete production has on the environment to the savings in energy that it can provide once it is in place, concrete comes out ahead when compared to most other building materials.
